#getNZwriting Project

We have been involved in a New Zealand wide project that Warehouse Stationery and School Kit have put together to get kids and schools connecting.

As part of the project we learnt about using metaphor to describe ourselves. You can see what we added to our postcards in the slide below. We discovered that the postcards were a puzzle and when put together formed a message for us.
We also learnt some fun facts about each other - like how many people can wiggle their ears (4)!

There was a bit of a rush to get the poster finished and ready for the courier on Friday last week, but with the extra hard work on Friday morning we made it!

We were paired with Aorangi School in Rotorua - we loved receiving their parcel :)

You can see their mahi on display in our class, so be sure to stop in.

Thanks School Kit and Warehouse Stationery - we loved taking part in #getnzwriting.

Bike Safety and Triathlon Training

Kia ora! This week we will be working with Constable Rob and learning all about Bike Safety. Our practical day is Friday the 24th - so team, if you have a road safe bike and a helmet be sure to bring it to school!

Our swimming continues - we're developing our backstroke skills and building our stamina in preparation for our syndicate's duathlon/triathlon event in the last week of this term. It's going to be a busy run to the end of the term!

Writing: Building our vocabulary

In Room 14 we have begun working on building our vocabulary. We are also developing our planning skills.

Have a look at what Candice and Sienna have written in their first drafts - they have planned their writing, shown what parts of the plan they have used in their writing and have also highlighted their favourite sentences.
Be sure to leave them some positive feedback!

Be sure to check back soon to see all of our writing!

Maths Games - Bowl a Fact

In Room 14 we like to play Maths games to practise our Maths skills. One of the games we like to play is Bowl A Fact. It is a great game for building on your basic facts skills.
You can play Bowl A Fact at home too - here's the link!
